The Co-op Culture
IDCO embraces the principles of a cooperative, where multiple entities collaborate to achieve greater outcomes than they could individually. While rooted in cooperative ideals, IDCO also possesses its own unique culture and characteristics that set it apart.
Democratic
Independent distributors become owners and have equal voting rights. Engaging with the co-op brings financial gains, improved business, and access to a supportive community for sharing best practices and industry knowledge.
Independent Distributors
Our independent members are laser-focused, highly trained experts. They’re more agile than big box stores so they can quickly change tactics without the baggage of bureaucracy. If they need help, they have each other to lean on. If they need a product, they source it from each other.
Business in the Front
IDCO combines an ROI-generating buying group with the fraternal aspects of a close-knit association. Focusing on improving each other’s businesses leads to long-term friendships among members.
Involvement
IDCO does not demand that members participate in all programs and events. The co-op does encourage participation because engaged members grow faster, have more access to growth strategies and supplier opportunities, and become part of the strategic growth process.
High-Functioning Committees
Our committees have functional charters and responsibilities, but the committee members’ free flow of ideas keeps the co-op focused on member growth and improvement.
