Flexaust Opens New North Carolina Plant

One of our Endorsed IDCO 1st Suppliers, Flexaust, recently opened a new hose production plant in Burlington, North Carolina.  At this new location, Flexaust plans to install five hose production lines, enabling it to enhance the service it provides to IDCO members.

Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Flexaust, said the driving factor behind the expansion was to be closer to its customers. The company’s goal was to provide better and faster service while, at the same time, increasing capacity. “Ultimately, IDCO members will enjoy faster turnaround times and better service overall,” Mike added.

Because the facility is located just a mile from the I-40/I-85 exit, Flexaust will be able to reach 60 percent of the US population within 1-2 days’ truck time. “When we’re at the Expo in February, we will have a list of transit times from all of our locations nationwide. It may cost a little more for 1 or 2 day service, but it won’t be next-day air rates,” said Mike Harvey, Flexaust’s Vice President of Operations.

IDCO member Skip Bruce, President of Catawba Industrial Rubber Company, said he’s excited about the Flexaust expansion into North Carolina.  “We definitely feel that it will be a big positive for our business here in the region.”

Eric Von Kaenel, Vice President/General Manager at Goodyear Rubber Products, Inc. shares Skip’s sentiment. “Flexaust’s new facility in North Carolina could be a game changer in situations where we have to get something in a hurry and don’t have enough product to make prepaid freight. And, though their service level has always been world-class, this can only make it even better. Great move by Goodyear Rubber’s friends at Flexaust!”

Flexaust expects to have product ready to ship sometime in early December and plans to be making and manufacturing product in Burlington by the end of first quarter.
