Dixon Quick Coupling, an endorsed IDCO 1st supplier, has developed a fast-paced, uniquely interactive training experience called “Selling the Right Series Workshop” (SRS). It’s a new, innovative field sales training opportunity offered through Dixon University that is designed to help participants deepen their product knowledge to better serve their customers and grow their respective businesses.
Following its breakout Coupling Workshop and its wildly popular predecessor, Selling the Right Connection Workshop, Dixon introduced the SRS Workshop to teach outside salespeople about the principles of hydraulic and pneumatic quick disconnects. The product training offered emphasizes applications, product selection and technical insight as they relate to specific target markets.
“The majority of the classes are market-specific including transportation, oil and gas, construction, underground utility, agricultural, and industrial. We show where quick disconnects are used in those markets as well as the competitive advantages,” said Brian Swayze, Technical Sales Specialist at Dixon. “There are multiple hands-on activities and competitions in each class that allows the attendees to see the fittings and even use quick disconnects in real applications. Some other activities include a tour of our 170,000 square feet factory as well as a class in our test lab where we put our fittings to the test.”
The SRS workshop is offered by invitation only extended by Dixon Territory Managers and Regional Managers. Several IDCO members attended the training last May and returned raving about their experience:
“The ‘Selling the Right Series Workshop’ presented by Dixon was outstanding! This was, by far, the most interactive training that I have attended. The day-and-a-half event was a well-thought-out mixture of classroom time followed by hands-on activities. This workshop included tours of the factory floor and allowed us the opportunity to speak with the machine operators. The pride that the Dixon employees have in the products they produce was very evident which, in turn, increased my faith in selling Dixon Valves’ ‘Made in America’ quick disconnects. The training was topped off with a contest to test our knowledge. The attendees broke into groups and acted as pit crews where we all needed to connect the correct quick disconnects and change the tires on an official NASCAR race car! I would highly recommend this training to all distributors.”
-Jeremiah Plante, Branch Manager at McGill Hose & Coupling
“The staff at Dixon did an excellent job of keeping the class engaged. They kept the course moving ─ not all book work and sitting at a desk. It was nice to be able to tour the facility where the products were manufactured. I was impressed to learn the couplers and products are made in house with an extensive quality control lab. I also enjoyed the course with the hands-on competition involving the NASCAR for a fun twist to provide an opportunity to use their products.”
–Rod Doerr at Superior Industrial Supply
“This was a great opportunity to further my understanding of the manufacturing process Dixon QCs go through, and the level of American craftsmanship needed to create the final product. This class offers a practical hands-on approach that has increased my knowledge and confidence to present Dixon’s product to my customers.”
–Mike Maze at Superior Industrial Supply
