We recently wrapped up the highly-anticipated 2019 IDCO Expo with an awards banquet where we announced our most distinguished members and suppliers from the previous fiscal year.
Congratulations to Midland Metal Mfg. Company on being named IDCO’s 2018 Supplier of the Year! Incredibly, Midland sold to 65 IDCO members in 2018 and posted sales increases with 44 of them.
We sat down with Brett Powell, Midland’s National Sales Manager, and discussed Midland’s mission and values, their relationship with IDCO, the IDCO Expo, and how it felt to win the Supplier of the Year award.
Midland Metal has been supplying fittings, valves, clamps, and accessories nationwide since 1980. Although Midland is now part of Wynnchurch Capital Group, they continue to put an emphasis on family values that have greatly influenced how the company treats its customers and employees. Midland is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, and the company has additional warehouses in California, Texas, and Georgia.
At Midland Metal, customer service is always at the forefront. Their goal is to be the most convenient supplier you’ll ever buy from. They make the process simple through account management tools and a state-of-the-art website that’s managed in-house and is constantly evolving to supply customers with new solutions. IDCO 1st Supplier
Brett Powell expressed Midland’s appreciation for the benefits that come with being an IDCO 1st Supplier. Specifically, “having access to a dedicated, driven, and growing group of distributors who are eager to give IDCO suppliers a serious shot at winning their business.”
Powell has attended every IDCO Expo since Midland joined IDCO in 2002. Which was his favorite?
“I’ve attended the last 16 Expos in a row, but this past year was my favorite. Not just because we won Supplier of the Year, but because of the great focus and positive energy everyone (including the several new members who were in attendance) had!”
He states that the Expos provide, “real opportunities for increasing our business. We have several moments throughout the Expo to interact, plan, and strategize with IDCO members.”
So, how does it feel to be named IDCO’s supplier of the Year? Powell was humble in his reply, “There are many other great suppliers in the group and many of them have become my friends, so to be chosen this year by the members was a real honor and a true testament to the hard work every employee at Midland put in to take care of our customers.”
Midland Metal’s goals for the remainder of 2019 include growing with their existing customer base and adding new products and tools to help their distributors grow, win new business, and expand their offerings.
